God she hated it here. She just wanted to go back home and curl up on her couch and be lazy. With her brother out of the picture it would be so easy. Granted she had to work later but hell why did that matter? Could be lazy until then after all. This made the panther chuckle as she left the store and walked up the street to the apartment her and her brother had once shared. Granted sure there was always a chance that he could come home sometime. But Melody was no longer holding her breath. She missed him but there was no way he was coming back now. And then there was the other mysterious man that she had met, fallen for, and who had vanished. The girl was tired of everyone coming and then just leaving on her. Most of the city around her was canine now, even the foxes considered in that family. It made her lonely, and most of all, made her have no energy.
Turning a corner she saw as the purple ball rolled and bounced out into the road. She was mesmerized by it and couldn’t seem to process what it meant. That was when she heard the laughter of the children on the sidewalk. Instinct took over. Dropping her bags to the ground and spilling her groceries Melody went out into the road to grab the ball. Picking it up with a smile one of the little girls came out to meet her. “Thank you miss!” she said happily as Melody looked down at her. “Do me a favor and not play so close to the road alright?” she said starting to hand the ball back. That was when it touched her cat like ears. Screeching of brakes as a car took the corner to fast and came barreling for them. Melody pushed the girl back and out of the way, she fell but was no longer in the way of the speeding car. The horn was pressed furiously but it was too late. The cat had no time to act once she made sure the girl was safe.
The ball bounced across the road as the collision happened. Melody was thrown a couple of feet back and rolled. But she couldn’t feel any of it. No there was no pain once that hit collided with her spine and the whiplash made her neck go at an odd angle. Was this it? Was she going to die now? No, Mel wasn’t ready to die, didn’t want to die yet. There had to be something that someone would do. Azmith. She thought tears going to her eyes. The goddess could save her. Grant her life. But would she do that for a lonely being that in all truth had no other desire to live? No that was wrong. She did want to live. Melody wasn’t ready to give up yet. There were other places to go. More people to see. She wanted to live for the life that she had been denying herself. I’ll live again. She promised mentally. Just please don’t let me die.
