He winced as she sat on him, the cuts and bite marks on his sides and neck were naerly as painful as his hand. Why didn't he tell anyone? Because he didn't want something like this to happen. He grunted, his face looking unamused, but not angry. This was the first female that had not run from his glare. He wondered a moment what Azriel would have done. And clenched his teeth as she unwrapped and rewrapped his and, but still said nothing to her.

She noticed him tense when he winced, Chie quickly got off and sat next to him. As gently as she could she rewrapped his hand tight enough to hold it in place, and with enough gauze to stop the bleeding. "There, that should do it. Please be careful while it heals. You don't want to rebreak anything." Chie began to climb back out of the carraige, "Won't you join us by the fire, you've lost quite a bit of blood. It's warmer over there." She didn't know how to ask him, but she waited for an answer anyway.

Of course he didn't want any part of the fire or the dancing or the meal. Already he could hear it dying down and the younger members were being sent off to bed. Only the adults and the three teens were left awake, and the older ones would be in bed soon as well.
"No." he said, his voice gruff and low and curled under the blanket again.

Seeing the fire being put out and everyone cleaning up, Chie didn't want to walk through the cold grass just to have to walk through it again so soon. "I used to have a family like this, after my parents passed, but it was a lie. The kids were told to be nice to me, so that I would never know." She didn't know why she was rambling about the past, but it felt better to have someone hear it. "My legal guardians just couldn't wait for me to become of age. They all wanted me gone, like I was a pest under their feet." Chie's voice was oddly even, as though she had come to terms with the facts long ago. "Why are you alone?" she didn't even bother to turn her head as she sat at the edge of the carraige, watching the last of the distant red glow of the dead fire fade.

"Hmph," like he'd tell her, "Why are you telling me this?" his voice was defiant. "If they didn't want you, you should have left sooner. It's better without anyone anyway." yes he was being a bit of a hippocryte with that statement, and he hoped she wouldn't call him on it though he knew she would.

She turned just enough to see him out of the corner of her eye. "It's not, not better, being alone." her voice was beginning to fail her. "I Don't know why I'm telling you, I guess I just wanted to tell someone. I have never told anyone about my past. The people I thought loved me, that I loved as a family. They showed me how curel the world really is that day," Chie began again after taking a deep breathe, steadying herself, "they had always been kind, never showing me their hatred for me. But that day, on my birthday, they let it all out. Told me i was useless, a waste of all their time." She smiled though, as she looked at everyone heading to bed. "Do you like being here with all these people?" She was looking up at the dark sky, sparkling with stars.

"Like it? I only like what I can use to get by, it's none of your business anyway." he refused to open up to her and spill his life's story. "I don't bug them, they don't bug me, I get a place to stay, thats all I need." He didn't need any of them, not really, he didn't even need the shelter, he could live on his own...truth was he needed to be around people, but he didn't need friends, he didn't need a family, just people that cared, though he would never admit it...ever.

Sighing Chie hopped down onto the ground. "I doubt that's the whole story, but I won't pester you anymore. Thanks for listening," She smiled at his back, "really, thank you." She walked away in the cold grass to find Teneka, She didn't feel like going homw and Chie wanted to know where she could sleep.

Teneka was waiting by the fire with blankets laid out there. "Hey," she said quietly with a smile, "I got a blanket for you," she patted the one next to hers. "You know the others like you a lot. You could stay with us if you wanted." She looked into the fire, she really wanted to ask about Sam, what had he said to her? WHat she she say to him? What happened, the curiosity about the silent coyote was killing her, but she didn't want to pry..."Oooh, so what did you guys talk about?" She said turning to face Chie, eyes brilliant with intrest, a good lie would satisfy Teneka, depending on the lie...and the truth would leave her stunned and speechless. Either way Teneka wouldn't know the difference and just wanted to know something about that mysterious canine who had spoken to none but Chie in all his time with them.

Smiling she slipped her wet shoes off before crwling into the blankets. "Not much really," Chie chuckled at the eager look in her new friend's eyes, "actually I did most of the talking. To be vague, we talked, I mean I talked, about the past." It wasn't so hard to think about, now that she had actually talked to someone about it.

Makiro found himself watching her talk with Teneka, and frowning. Was he that mysterious? Why did that girl have to be so curious anyway? She could have asked, not that he would have said anthing, but she didn't have to go prying at someone else for facts about him. Then he was relieved a bit as Chie neglected to say anything about him. After listening a bit more, he slipped under his blanket and closed his eyes, drifting into a light sleep.

"Oh" She replied sounding disappionted, "well...anyway..."she thought about bringing up Chie's permanent stay with her family again but decied to say nothing as she lay down too. Waiting for Chie to speak again, and if she didn't then she was fully prepared to fall asleep like a log in ten seconds flat.

Chie's eyes were already heavy as it is, and the warmth of the lasting embers and the blankets was making it harder for her to stay awake. "Seriously, you guys wouldn't mind me hangin for a while? That woud be really nice, Thank you Teneka." Yawning Chie practically muttered the last few sylables before drifting into a deep sleep where she dreamed of the past with the traveling orchesta, and her present, travelling with this band of gypsies.
