An eyebrow was thingyed at her rant, and as she left Azriel merely shut the door behind her and locked it with a civilized click. Turning around with his back to the door he ran his fingers through his hair and let out a breath. Sure, being alone was safe, it kept his pack members and others from death, however being alone was more of an emotional roller coaster than it was worth.
Zya had thought she understood, but her story was wrong. He had never been part of a pack, he was chased from foreign lands, for at the time he had no lands of his own. She had tried to wound him with his own past. Little did she know, this no longer shamed him, but protected others from him. Despite however they wished to understand or disregard such a fact…and also, he hadn’t killed her, but if her pack hadn’t stopped him when they had, she would have been torn apart.
That bloody day in the Cavern of Secrets, he had torn her throat out, splattering the blood for all to see with his own jaws. He had loved her, but would a lover really do such a thing? No, and her betrayal thereafter…her lies. He grit his teeth at the memory. He hated her, and he was a monster. He could never try to love again, never. It would mean death. He had a pack to lead, Nicomae, Naomi, Azzy, and now Zya. Would she hate him? She had joined the pack only out of love for him. He had accepted her only out of divine order. Something would come of this, somehow, this…issue would resolve itself and Zya would have a purpose in the pack. He cursed Azmith and her secrecy.
He then wandered to his room, the calm white white walls, the décor worthy of a bachelor, however tainted with a classical elegance immediately calmed his thoughts. He wasn’t angry with Zya, in fact, her outburst had surprisingly amused him, but he had been left almost numb from years past. Her lashings at his scars didn’t even faze him. He moved the blankets of his king-sized bed aside and sat, rubbing his face. The end of another wretched day had come to be, and he lay down to sleep.

Silent as falling snow Nicomae emerged like a ghost from the shadows, finding not one step to betray her stealth as she came to sit beside Zya on the roof. She thought of words to tell Zya of how she should never have fallen in love with her brother, thought to speak of what had happened and why he rejected her, perhaps even say something else, unrelated to calm Zya’s mind; but nothing seemed right.
For a moment, she wanted to scold her brother for breaking yet another young heart, however she knew that argument would get her no where. She thought to put an arm around Zya but, from the looks of it, it seemed Zya would reject such a gesture. So she sat in silence, staring out over the city; the lights scattered like a galaxy on the ground.
She had followed, the moment she sensed Zya had gone to pursue Azriel, she had followed. She had predicted the rejection…if she had warned Zya…no, Zya wouldn’t have listened. This was something she had painfully learned on her own.
“I’m sorry.” She said finally, her voice smooth, calm, and motherly. The words hung in the air like the first snow of winter. Calm, with a hint of sadness, mourning the springtime, yet quiet like the peaceful resting of the world in winter. And that was all, the silence enveloped them both again, perhaps Zya would speak, or perhaps the silence would prove victorious. Either way, Nicomae’s presence was like incense, comforting and silent, not judging and ever loving. Zya was part of the pack now, she was family, Nicomae wanted to make that as real to Zya as she would allow.

Zya sat and let the silent evelope them. She wanted to scream, she wanted to cry, she wanted to laugh... she didn't know what she wanted. She was numb. She was frozen, frozen just as her heart had become. Could this really be could one man really hurt her this much? "Thank you Nicomae, for your kindness. You are so different from your brother..." She paused. trying to keep herself calm and restrained. Finally she could stand it no longer and turned quickly giving Nicomae a hug and trying to comfort herself from the terrible pain she felt. She gave herself to the hug, she gave herself the tears which began to spill forth from her eyes. "What could I have done, what could I have said to change his heart? How can I make him see how much I love him? How much I wish to be with him... no matter what!" Zylenia stopped speaking overcome by the force of her shaking and the amount of questions hse had buzzing in her head. She waited silently longing for Nicomae to speak again to hear the sweet calming words of her new pack member.

A warm embrace hid Zya and her tears from the world, and let her sadness pour safely into the haven of Nicomae's chest. She held her the way a mother would hold a child, "Shh, there, there," she whispered, "My brother's heart is not ready for love, and so he cannot love you." she paused as Zya let out another sob, "If you truly love him, then understand him as I do. He is your alpha, follow him as he follows Azmith and love him as your leader and protector. He may not return your affection, but he would give his life for any one of us, and now, even you." She was silent after that, letting her words sink in.
It was as if she had gained another daughter. Though Zya was an adult like herself, this outburts made her seem more like a heartbroken teenager, which only gave more reason to Nicomae's unnoficial adoption. Then again, perhaps she was more sisterly than mothorly to this one. Either way, they were sisters in a sense of the family; The pack.
There was nothing she could have done to make her brother love her. She couldn't bring herself to say this right out, but only hoped to comfort Zya with the knowlege of Azriel's unbreakable pack-bond, his loyalty and care for each of his pack members, though hidden, was the greatest love any of them could even know.

"I know I should not let myself be so affected..." Zya whimpered into the warmth of Nicomae's embrace. She felt like a foolish child, one who'd been scorned and now turned to a mother for comfort... but Nicomae was not her mother, no, Nicomae was her sister, her friend and she was grateful for her kindness.
"But... Azmith... Azmith told me... promised me..." Zya tried to tell Nicomae of the dream\vision that Azmith had given her. She choked the words out as she tried desperately to control her hyperventilating fit. "Azmith told me that I would be able to calm his heart... that I would be able to make him love again... Have I failed?"
She had said it. She had finally revealed the true reason for her joining the pack. Would Nicomae be angry? No, Nicomae was rarely angry and was usually understanding. But what if Azriel found out? Would he dismiss her from the pack, would he make her leave because of her feelings?
"What do I do?" Zya asked when Nicomae did not seem to react to the news she had dealt. "I love him... I love him... what do I do? What can I do?" Zya was in shock as she recalled what had happened in Azriel's apartment and continued to repeat her vow and question until she finally found her self speachless again.
She didn't know where she'd gone wrong. Perhaps she would try again later on, but would Azriel allow it? Could she really soften his heart, would he ever really love her? Zya stopped thinking, it was too painful and too stressful to think of what Azriel was capable of. The pain he had caused and the hurt he could do if she dared try again... the only choice was to wait... wait for him to act. No matter how long it took Zya knew that was the only way for things to work was if he let them.
She gained control of herself and stopped crying as she sat up and wiped her face from the moist, salty wettness that covered it. She sat there waiting to see how Nicomae would respond, if she would respond. She dared not look at her for fear of what she might see in Nicomae's eyes.

"Perhaps you misinterperated the promise of the Great Lady." she said, "You may be the one to help him love again, but accept the posibility that it may not be you who is the object of his love." Waiting was the best choice, and Zya knew that. Her youthful love was her downfall, for Azriel was not one to be taken right away by the urgency of such youth. Azriel would not fall in love if he knew it was love that made him fall. Unwillingly, and unknowingly could it happen.

"No she directly told me I would mate with him, that it would be the salvation of this pack." Zya answered. She felt drained as she sat next to her sister. "I don't know perhaps I went wrong some where. I will not try again I have decided to let him realize his emotions and come to me if he wishes." Even as Zya spoke the words she knew they were stupid but it was the only thing she could do to give herself the strength to ever face Azriel again.
"You are right, I will love him as my leader, as my alpha. I will let him be the one to bring up this issue when he sees fit and until then I shall just spend time with him as a fellow pack member." With that Zya fell silent and rested while, she looked at the stars with Nicomae.
